Aloe vera is a succulent perennial species of Liliaceae family growing in tropical climate. It was first traced in Egypt and was presented as funeral gift known as 'Plant of immortality".
It has been used for various purposes like treatment of wounds, hair loss, hemorrhoids and many others. Some species of Aloe like Aloe ferox is also used as ornamental plant .
Commercially, these days Aloe has an entire industry behind it. It's juices are used in cosmetics and personal care product such as moisturizer, soap, face wash and suntan lotion.
In our home, we can directly apply Aloe gel in skin for acni removal, wound healing and skin glow. Also, direct consumption of Aloe juice helps to enhance digestive system and eradicate digestive problems.
Now, What is the importance of Aloe for us in agricultural field in Nepal? Well, Aloe vera can be a great agricultural option because of these reasons:-

-Used from therapeutic to cosmetic industry
- Perennial and easy to grow
-Favourable tropical climate of Nepal
- Good international demands.
In sum, it's not a bad idea to plant some Aloe vera in our rooftop or wherever possible. I promise you, planting Aloe will worth it.
